Del Jardín Latino: -¿Que nos podes decir del set?

Joseph Capriati: -El set contiene 11 tracks, es más Funky y Tech-Housy que el Techno big room y Deep que suelo tocar normalmente.

DJL: -¿Cuales son tus próximos planes en cuanto a lanzamientos?

JC: -Lanzaré mi primer álbum en Junio, esta compuesto por 12 tracks, abarcando varios géneros, como, Techno, Tech-House, Minimal, Chill Out, Break Beat, etc. Es una libre expresión experimental de toda la música que me gusta y por primera vez lo puedo llevar al estudio.

DJL: -Visitaste América del Sur por última vez el año pasado y dejaste una muy buena impresión. ¿Estas planeando volver?

JC: -Vengo tocando en su continente cada 4 o 5 meses, lo que me pone muy feliz, la primer vez que fui a Argentina fue en 2008 y me enamore del país! Creo que la gente es la más candente del mundo, las fiestas son muy buenas y disfrute cada visita! Andaré de vuelta por allí entre mediados de Mayo y mediados de Junio y luego vuelvo en Julio hasta Agosto, pasaré por Colombia, Honduras, México, Ecuador, Argentina, etc. Estoy realmente ansioso por la gira!

DJL: -Which are your future plans regarding releases?

JC: -I will release my first album in June wich contains 12 tracks with various genres like Techno, Tech-House, Minimal, Chill Out, Break Beat, etc. A free expression and a experiment of all music I like and for the first time in my life produced by myself.

DJL: -You visited South America a year ago and left a really good impression, are you planning to come back?

JC: -I use to play in South America every 4 or 5 months and i’m really happy for this beacouse since I was there for the first time in 2008 i’m in love with this country! The people are the hottest in the world I think and also the parties are great and I enjoy them everytime! I will come back there in May till half of June and in half of July till half of August in Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina, etc. I’m really looking foward to it!

DJL: Contános un poco acerca del set.

Diego Ro-k: Contiene tracks de: Mark Broom, Maetrik, Shane Berry, James Ruskin, Cari Lekebusch, Alexi Delano y Andrea Roma, entre otros.

Traté de poner los tracks de Techno que estoy pinchando ahora, estos artistas son los que más me llaman la atención. Igualmente no considero que el Techno actual esté pasando por un buen momento. Estos se distinguen por no hacer mucho ruido y le ponen alguna dosis de groove al estilo, sin esto creo que se puede poner muy monótono.

DJL: ¿Cuáles fueron los últimos tracks que te llamaron la atención?

Diego Ro-k: Me llamó la atención el último de Satoshi Tomiie (Back to Basics) donde retomó el House oscuro e hipnótico que tuvo en sus principios, esto es algo diferente a lo que venía haciendo.

El de Broom y Ruskin es realmente bueno, a Broom lo considero entre los mejores productores y DJs de los últimos años.

Maetrik y Shane Berry, Gary Beck, también se están destacando por cierto desenfado al crear, no le tienen miedo a los vocales y recurren al old school para groovear el track. Prefirieron salir del tiki tiki que parecía ser lo único que sirve hace 2 años, tornando al género muy aburrido y artificial.

DJL: ¿Planes y proyectos para este año?

Diego Ro-k: Producciones propias y de D+D, varias ediciones nacionales (Argenetics) e internacionales (Communique, Mind Trip, Punta del Este).

Presentaciones en  Buenos Aires: Crobar, Club 69, Cocoliche, Shamrock, Levitar y el Festival Código País. También hay un posible ciclo a iniciar los jueves en Capital (pronto tendré mas novedades). Residencia de Cocoon South America 2010 en Crobar (Sven Vath, Tiefschwarz, Minilogue, SiS, etc.)

En el interior del pais tocaré en Córdoba, Mendoza, Catamarca, San Luís, Tucumán, La Rioja, Mar del Plata, Bariloche, Neuquén, Ushuaia, Río Grande y Rosario. Y también tengo planeado viajar a Perú, México, USA, España, Portugal, Reino Unido, España, Francia, Alemania y Dinamarca.

DJL: ¿Qué tipo de sonidos buscás al seleccionar nuevas producciones para Simple Records y Aus Music?

Will Saul: Simple se lleva al lado más deep del House/Techno. Motorcitysoul, Gadi Mizrahi (Wolf+Lamb), Adam Marshall y James Priestley son los artistas del núcleo del sello. Aus Music es mucho más ecléctico y el output va desde Dubstep al House y Disco. El sello arrancó alredor de dos artistas – Lee Jones (MyMy) y Sideshow (Fink en Ninja Tune) pero los últimos años lo vengo llevando mas al Dubstep y músicas del UK marcadas por la liñea de bajo, artistas como Appleblim & Ramadanman y Joy Orbison, el nuevo fenómeno del UK que se sumaron a las filas del sello. Amo las melodías deep, futuristicas, melancólicas y con alma, y este hilo musical está presente en los dos sellos. En general, busco música con un gancho fuerte y longevidad.

DJL: Parece que el House volvió fuerte el año pasado y también escuchamos influencias latinas en muchas producciones. ¿Cómo ves todos estos cambios?

Will Saul: Es parte de la constante evolución del dance music. Invariablemente el House y Techno miran para atrás algunos años y para adelante en otros. Están ahora mirando para atrás en búsqueda de inspiración con el revival del House, pero se estuvo mirando para adelante en la reciente fase Mínimal.

DJL: Haciendo un balance del 2009 ¿Cómo fue tu año como DJ y label manager?

Will Saul: Muy muy a full pero bien gratificante. Tuve algunos de mis mejores gigs este año, Panoramabar, Robert Jonson, Labryinth Festival en Japón, D-Edge… preparando la compilación Balance me llevó casi todo mi verano, pero la respuesta de la prensa fue tan buena que justificó todo el tiempo y esfuerzo.

Will Saul: Escribir otro álbum y empezar el entrenamiento para ser un abogado con capacitación en el negocio de la música y los films.

DJL: What kind of sounds are you looking for when picking music for Simple Records and Aus Music?

Will Saul: Simple is geared towards the deeper end of the house/techno spectrum. Motorcitysoul, Gadi Mizrahi (Wolf+Lamb), Adam Marshall and James Priestley are the core artists on the roster. Aus Music is much more eclectic and the output ranges from folk to Dubstep via house and disco. The label was initially built around two artists – Lee Jones (MyMy) and Sideshow (Fink on Ninja Tune) but over the last couple of years I’ve been getting into dubstep/UK bass line driven music so Appleblim & Ramadanman and new UK phenomenon Joy Orbison have recently joined the family. I love deep, futuristic, melancholic and soulful melodies so this musical thread runs through both labels. Overall I look for music with strong hooks and longevity.

DJL: House apparently had a strong come back last year and we heard a lot of Latin influences popping up here and there. How do you see all these changes?

Will Saul: It’s all part of the constant evolution of dance music. Invariably house and techno looks back some years and forward in others. It’s looking back a lot for inspiration at the moment with the house revival but was very forward thinking with the most recent minimal phase.

DJL:  Summing up 2009, how was your year as a DJ and label manager?

Will Saul: Very very busy but very very rewarding. I had some of my best gigs this year at Panoramabar, Robert Jonson, Labryinth Festival in Japan, D-Edge… preparing the Balance compilation took up most of my Summer but the press response to it has been so great that it was well worth the time and commitment.
